Duquesne Light Adds APOGEE Interactive HomeEnergySuite™ to Website
Expanded Home Energy Center Provides New Interactive Tools for Customers
ATLANTA, March 3, 2007 -- Duquesne Light Company is using APOGEE Interactive’s web-based HomeEnergySuite™ to provide its half a million residential customers in the Pittsburgh region with additional online tools to use energy wisely.
APOGEE’s HomeEnergySuite forms the cornerstone of the new Home Energy Center available on Duquesne Light’s website at www.duquesnelight.com. The APOGEE suite includes: a home energy use calculator, an interactive energy saving home, appliance and lighting calculators, a comprehensive energy efficiency knowledge center, and a complete children’s section with activities to promote energy learning.
Duquesne Light customers can obtain a quick estimate of their homes’ energy consumption and costs by answering a few questions prompted in the online Home Energy Calculator. Within seconds the calculator draws upon local weather data, Duquesne Light energy prices and APOGEE’s proprietary energy analysis system to produce a graphical summary. These results are then compared with APOGEE’s extensive residential energy database to generate specific recommendations for improving energy efficiency in the home.
“At Duquesne Light, we're dedicated to providing our customers a secure supply of reasonably priced power,” said Barbara Friend, director, Customer Services. “However, we're also committed to helping customers make the most out of every dollar they spend on energy. Our Home Energy Center, featuring informative and easy-to-use APOGEE products, provides a wide range of tools to help our customers evaluate and manage their home energy use.”
“The Internet makes this process so much easier for customers today, Friend added. “They can get answers, at their convenience, about how to save energy and, then using the estimated dollar savings calculated, prioritize their actions.”
“Duquesne Light selected APOGEE’s online suite for its solid analytics, easy-to-use formats, easy-to-read summaries, and overall comprehensiveness and cost effectiveness,” said Friend. Duquesne Light joins the more than 200 utilities nationwide offering APOGEE applications such as the HomeEnergyCalculator™, CommericalEnergyCalculator™, InteractiveEnergyHome™, BillingInsights™ , Kids Korner and others.
“Everyone wins with online self-service,” said Susan Gilbert, president of APOGEE Interactive. “Industry studies show that utilities who work hard to inform and educate their customers on how to use energy wisely achieve higher customer satisfaction ratings. Web-based tools are a critical component in the consumer education process,” Gilbert added.
