Promoting and Getting Value from Your Kids’ Energy Education Materials

Here are some ideas from Apogee and our Teacher Advisors on how to get your Kids’ Energy Education materials used in the schools and by other community groups.

  • Web Analytics Are Amazing!  You can keep track of how often people are visiting and using Kids Korner through the web activity reports we produce for all of our users.  With them, you can tell how many are coming to the pages, what topics they are viewing and how long they are staying on the pages.  It’s a wealth of information, and can be used to stay closer in touch with what’s on teachers’ and kids’ minds.

We have a new web analytics package that you can log on to at any time to see in real-time how many visitors are on the site, what they are looking at, where they came from and so much more.  At this site you can also run a variety of reports and pick any time period over the previous 12 months to see statistics.  So if you launch a campaign or do some sort of promotion, you can run reports to see the impact. Also, on a monthly basis you should be receiving summary reports of what happened on the site during the previous month.  If you are not getting them, let us know!

  • We’ve observed that placing attractive icons on the home page and scattering them at various other logical places through-out the website helps drive as much as 10 times more traffic to the energy education materials.

We have several variations on the Kids Korner logo for you to select from in the media kit, which is located on APGEE’s website.

  •  Another idea is doing some sort of promotion to the schools and community groups.  Business-card-size CD-ROMs are a great way of connecting with teachers and community group leaders.  They are pretty inexpensive to create a master ($3-5k for something simple) and are less than a dollar each to reproduce (1,000 for  less than $1,000).  The best part is you see the impact of your promotion on the web analysis report right away.  And if you are trying to drive more visits to the website as a whole, these can do the trick.

  •  Activity Workbooks imprinted with your logo and web address are great ways to share energy educations.  Send them to the schools or give them away at meetings and in your building’s customer lobby.  The artwork for these 8-page workbooks is downloadable free in the Kids Korner media kit on APOGEE’s website.

  • Also in the Media Kit is ready-to-use artwork for T-shirts, tatoons, stickers, posters, bookmarks and much more.  Do check it out, and please continue sharing your good ideas with us.  Anything you give us permission to share will be added to the Media Kit for the benefit of all.

  • Another idea that has proven to work is getting the word out in your bill insert.

  • Have a contest to name the characters in your Kid’s Korner.

  • Another contest idea is having a treasure hunt where kids have to go to your website and find something to win a prize.

If any of these sounds interesting, let us know and we can explore them in more detail.  We’d love to work with you on this application and always strive to show you that we appreciate your business.  Our goal is making you look good and produce value in all we do.
