Our customers often ask us for help answering the ROI question:

“How much can we expect to save by implementing an online customer self-help application?”

The fact is, there is no one right answer.  However, the good news is, the answer for your company depends on a number of “knowable” cost variables. To make this easy for you, we have created a simple tool where you can enter what you do know or can find out about your company’s costs, and it will compute for you likely savings.  (see the links located at the left)

This calculator is designed to estimate the savings produced by online-self-service that helps customers answer their own high bill questions.  To use it, you need to know the typical percentage of your customers who call the utility each year.  Your call center manager will probably know this percentage and the other variables too: the average number of calls those customers make and the percentage of calls that are related to high bills vs. other issues.

Next, you’ll have to make a guesstimate of the percentage call volume will be reduced and the percentage of call time that can be reduced with the application, but if you just enter a value, say 10% or 20% for now, over time using the application, this number too will become clear.  We can help you with an estimate if you have no idea where to begin.

Now, just enter the cost of resolving a high bill call and the other variables by moving the slider bars. As you do move them, watch the savings accrue in the stacked bar chart at the top of your screen.
